Community groups, learners, teachers
and aspiring artists are invited to take part in the
Eastern Cape Eisteddfod.
The Eastern Cape Eisteddfod exists to:
 |
Provide an ongoing platform for Arts assessment
in line with OBE |
 |
Reward creativity and excellence |
 |
Celebrate our uniqueness |
 |
Build confidence in our youth |
 |
Share artistic endeavour, expertise and
experiences |
 |
Encourage South Africans to appreciate our
diversity of cultures |
 |
Develop a public that is arts-aware |
 |
Transform the Arts into a viable industry |
The syllabus is designed to showcase excellence and development
in the Arts and culture of the Eastern Cape. The Eisteddfod
provides warm, positive and professional adjudication to young
and emerging artists in a non-competitive environment.
Participants can look forward to quality adjudications, in
a melting pot of Arts activities, contributed to by artists
from across the whole Eastern Cape area.
Categories include: music, speech & drama,
visual art, creative writing and dance.
The creative writing and speech & drama categories can
be entered in three languages - English, Xhosa and Afrikaans.
The Eisteddfod fills an important gap in Arts education and
assessment in terms of OBE. Entries are encouraged from all
schools and youth community groups, particularly those who
have not participated in the past i.e. rural schools, township
schools and special education schools.
The Eastern Cape Eisteddfod provides an arena for performance
and evaluation for individuals from a diversity of age groups
and backgrounds.
