New Director for Arts Education
The Grahamstown Foundation is delighted to introduce Ingrid Wylde as the recently appointed Director of Arts Education, taking over from Neville Engelbrecht who left at the end of October.
Well known as the artistic director of Blue Sky Productions, a writer, director and a finalist of the PANSA/NLDTF new writing 2013, Ingrid originally emerged as a passionate theatre arts graduate from Birmingham University in the mid 70s. She settled in South Africa with her equally passionate educationalist husband to build a successful career in teaching English and drama, initiating festivals and community arts projects, adjudicating in Eisteddfods and fostering a creative culture of teaching and learning in schools and communities across South Africa. She also furthered her theatre studies at Wits University obtaining a masters degree in 2004.
Ingrid is an accomplished theatre director and project manager. She took up the Arts Education Directorship early in November and is deeply into the planning stages of arts education programmes and activities for 2013 while completing current commitments in Mpumalanga.
The Foundation welcomes her to the role along with the opportunity to work with her in the development of South Africa’s creative industries at the entry level.
Ingrid says, “Developing new creative artists and audiences for South Africa, is something I am passionate about and I am really enjoying getting my teeth into this new job and looking forward to working with a great team”.
